Spiral Smart Technology (SST) is a user-friendly interface developed by ISM Machinery that walks the operator through the setup process of the D-Max spiral duct tubeformers. Prior to machine set-up, on the touchscreen the operator is prompted to enter the material thickness. SST will then take the guess work out of the operator’s hands by informing them step- by- step what the proper parameters and tools to be installed during the machine setup.
For example, once the operator enters .019 for the material thickness the controller will tell them the correct Roller Unit, Knife Gap, Guide Plate Shims, Drive Roller and Clinching Roller Pressures for Galvanized, Stainless and aluminum along with other specifics to run that particular material thickness.
A benefit of SST is that it eliminates the operator’s hassle of having to sort through 6-8 pages of charts, something that is time-consuming and prone to errors with competitors spiral tubeforming machines.
Although the main operator of the machine may memorize the setup parameters for some of the common thicknesses, Spiral Smart Technology is an extremely useful tool for running odd thicknesses, materials and for operators who do not run the ISM D-Max spiral duct tube forming machine every day.
