The Mestek Machinery staff joined the members of the Cleveland Chapter of the SMACNA for the 22nd Annual Golf invitational last month for another wonderful golf tournament on a beautiful sunny day on the greens. The event was held at the Columbia Hills Country Club in Columbia Station, Ohio, on July 26, 2021. It was a great tournament which included a some fun on the course and a chance to work on their golf skills, but also an opportunity for local Cleveland SMACNA Associate Members and Members to network with vendors and clients.

This year’s outing had the largest attendance in 21 years with 180 participants in the golf tournament, lunch, and dinner. The association also received the most sponsorships in the history of the event. A large assortment of prizes was donated by Associate Members and Members including golf bags, a golf club, a television, Milwaukee tools, Bluetooth speakers, coolers, golf balls, LED work lights, and flashlights. Every golfer received a goody bag at registration and also left with a prize after dinner. All that participated had a fantastic time. We look forward to attending next year’s event scheduled for July 25, 2022.

Mestek Machinery is not only a proud sponsor of the 2021 event, but it turns out we aren’t that bad on the course either! Our very own Laura Hurst (Aftermarket Sales) won the Longest Drive in the women’s category on hole #2. We hope she doesn't turn pro and continues to remain on the Mestek Machinery foursome! Golfers love hitting it long off the tee, even if the rest of their game is not-so-good. Congrats to Laura and all the other winners of the golf tournament.

When asked about her long drive technique, Laura replied, "I was having a great day golfing with some pretty good drives, but that was my best drive of the day." She attributes her success to her teammates, saying, "Thanks to my teammates Mike Bailey, Ken Haughawout and Dave Globokar for their encouragement!"
