Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) is a state agency dedicated to connecting job seekers with employment opportunities and helping employers build a skilled workforce. Through its IowaWorks platform, the state’s largest jobs bank, individuals can access career counseling, job openings, and support services, while employers receive resources to recruit talent and post job opportunities. IWD also supports veteran employment initiatives, including programs tailored to help businesses connect with military service members, veterans, and their families.
For veterans and transitioning service members, IowaWorks offers specialized resources, including the IowaWorks for Veterans Portal, which provides access to job opportunities, career planning tools, and veteran-specific employment support.
Home Base Iowa (HBI), now fully integrated into the IowaWorks system, is a statewide initiative designed to help veterans and their spouses find meaningful careers, reintegrate into civilian life, and build strong community roots. This public-private partnership connects military talent with employers across Iowa and provides access to career guidance and job-seeking tools that align with veterans’ skills and aspirations.
