Mestek Machinery, Inc. has entered into an agreement to purchase the Vanemaker and Railmaker intellectual property from Harper Metal Products. The machinery produces double wall air turning vane and the push-type rail used in rectangular duct construction. The Vanemaker and Railmaker will now be sold under the Lockformer brand as the Harper-type machines, and Mestek Machinery will continue to supply new machinery and support existing machines with replacement parts.
Based in San Bruno, California, Harper Metal Products is a manufacturer of machinery and special roll forming systems for the HVAC industry. “Having common dealers and serving the same customers, Harper’s products are a great compliment to Mestek Machinery,” says Jack Pennuto Jr., Vice President of Mestek Machinery. “Meeting Bob Harper, it was great to learn the history of the product and that Harper Metal Products’ share a common origin with some of Mestek Machinery’s existing products, including the Roto-Die hydraulic bender and Lockformer Speednotch. It will be a great compliment to Mestek Machinery.” The Vanemaker and Railmaker will be produced at Mestek’s facility in Cleveland, Ohio.
