During July, Mestek Machinery staff members arrived at the Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, California for the Bay Area Chapter of SMACNA Annual Scholarship Trust Golf Tournament. Mestek Machinery and our sales team were happy to return to this year’s Bay Area SMACNA Annual Scholarship Trust Golf Tournament after it was cancelled last year due to the covid-19 virus. The golf tournament was an all-day event that took place on July 19, and everyone was excited to return! This golf tournament was the first time many Bay Area SMACNA colleagues and friends were able to get back together since the start of the pandemic.
There’s nothing like a little friendly competition between members while networking with local industry vendors and clients. Golfers of all abilities arrived at Castlewood Country Club ready to play and rub elbows with their peers. While the event always provides a good time and a great networking event, the ultimate purpose of the event has a much more important meaning. This year’s event was created to help students meet the financial needs of higher education. In 2019, the Bay Area Chapter awarded $168,000 through 49 scholarships. This year’s golf outing raised even more this year with $170,050 that will be used for student scholarships.
There were 190 golfers who participated the day’s events, including breakfast before heading out to the two championship-caliber courses, the Hill Course and the Valley Course. Mestek Machinery was one of the several associate member vendors that were on hand at the course to network with contractor members throughout the day. Golfers found Mestek Machinery staff members set up in our tent at hole #1 on the course. Players were treated to cool drinks and free golf swag when they stopped by the tent.
After enjoying the day out on the greens, the golfers appreciated the refreshing reception where awards and door prizes were distributed. Mestek Machinery would like to give a shout-out to all the 2021 Golf Tournament winners and to the Bay Area SMACNA Chapter for raising funds for the student scholarships. We look forward to another fantastic event next year in 2022!
